The shredder material is broken up by crushing and cutting, enabling it to rot more easily. The collecting box fulfils an important additional function: it is not only storage space for the shredded materials but it also forms a safety feature because it protects the discharge opening from access; therefore, no-one can accidentally reach into the cutting mechanism from underneath while it is operating. If the box is removed, the unit switches off immediately. The long distance between the filling hopper and the blade mechanism forms an additional safety feature in the 2300 ESK
